Safety notice
The content on this site is published for information. It describes a handstand training method and is not medical advice, a diagnosis, or personal supervision. It replaces neither a consultation with a health professional nor coaching.
Before you start
The handstand is an inverted position that loads the wrists, the shoulders and the neck. Ask for medical advice before practising if you have any doubt about your health, and in particular in case of uncontrolled high blood pressure, glaucoma, cardiovascular conditions, a history of neck or shoulder problems, pregnancy, or a recent injury.
While you practise
Stop immediately in case of sharp pain, localised or returning to the same spot every time you load your hands, marked dizziness, persistent headache or vision problems. See a doctor if the symptoms persist. Diffuse wrist discomfort early on is common and fades with warming up and a gradual increase in volume; a sharp pain is a different matter.
Responsibility
Practice is the reader's own responsibility. The publisher of this site cannot be held responsible for injuries, damage or losses resulting from applying the advice published here, or from its interpretation.
What the stated timelines are worth
The progression ranges given in the articles are orders of magnitude, established for a healthy adult practising regularly. They are not a guarantee of results and vary widely from one person to another, depending on athletic background, body proportions and consistency.
